F/A-18 HORNET
The F/A-18 Hornet is a supersonic all-weather fighter and attack aircraft. It is used primarily for fighter escort, fleet air defense, suppression of enemy air defenses, air interdiction, and more. The F/A-18 can carry air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles and also features a 20 mm M61 Vulcan cannon.
The F/A-18 Hornet was designed by McDonnell Douglas and Northrop and was first deployed in 1978. Its top speed is Mach 1.8 and it has a ceiling of over 50,000 feet. The F/A-18 has a combat range of 1,457 miles. Variants include the F/A-18A, F/A-18B, F/A-18C, F/A-18D, and F/A-18E and F Super Hornet.
