M992 FAASV
The M992 FAASV is a tracked vehicle that provides ammunition support for the M109 Paladin. It also boasts projectile rack assemblies and storage compartments for conventional rounds and 3 Copperhead rounds. A crew of 3 operates the M992 and they protect themselves with a .50 caliber M2HB machine gun.
The M992 FAASV was introduced to the field in 1985. Variants of this ammunition transport are the M992 A1 and M992 A2. The M992 is also known as a CAT (Carrier Ammunition Tracked) or CATV (Carrier Ammunition Tracked Vehicle). Its operational range is 220 miles and its maximum road speed is 35 mph.
